Brettstapel (in the original German) is a vertically stacked stud element and is a type of construction that conforms to a specific off-site manufacturing methodology.

The type of construction allows much longer spans and lengths of load bearing elements to be produced. They can be used with as walls, separating floors or even as roofs. Indeed complete buildings can be constructed using this method.

They can be finished with a choice of coverings or left visible. They provide much improved levels of strength & sound deadening and are visually appealing. They are connected using a detailed nailing or doweling pattern and do not require glues which greatly increase their attractiveness to ecological construction.

Each element is designed after a detailed structural calculation to determine the correct span and element depth.

Load bearing elements consisting of tight packed, vertically placed studs which are connected to one another with either nails or wooden dowels.

The elements consist of uniform timber which depending on where it is located will be flat edged or finished and can have a sound deadening channel integrated into the element.
